The new video series Idea Channel from PBS is really great. They’ve asked important questions like Is Miku Hatsune a More Authentic Pop Star Than Lana Del Rey, and Are Hologram Tupac and Hologram Freddie Mercury Nostalgia or New Aesthetic?
In the latest installment, host Mike Rugnetta asks if the large numbers of adult men who are genuine fans of My Little Pony are helping to re-shape the notion of masculinity. After all, the color pink was considered more appropriate for boys than girls up until the 1920s.
As one might expect, reactions to the video are mixed.
So what do you think? Are My Little Pony fans changing the face of manliness? If so, is this something that should be celebrated? Or are Bronies just a passing fad? Watch the video below and decide for yourself.
