Among New York’s various street performers there’s a certain illegal profession that goes unregulated – counterfeit Sesame Street Mascots.
Pay a visit to Central Park, Times Square, or any of the big touristy landmarks and you’ll likely spot half a dozen adults wearing head-to-toe knockoff Elmo and Cookie Monster costumes soliciting hugs and tips. While this technically constitutes copyright and trademark violation, there are too many of these frauds to do much about it.
Adam Sandler (AKA Dan Sandler) former proprietor of the Cambodian sex slave webcam site “Welcome to Rape Camp” is one such unlicensed Elmo giving hugs to New York’s children. I only wish I was kidding about this.
Back in April, the emotionally disturbed Sandler was spotted cursing, yelling racial slurs, insisting that he works for John Gotti.
On June 16th, sandler appears in Central Park again, this time ranting about an International Jewish Conspiracy.
On June 24th, Sandler was arrested, as seen in this video uploaded June 27th.
According to an article in yesterday’s New York Times, Sandler was arrested in 1999 for running a sexual exploitation website in Cambodia called “Welcome to Rape Camp” and admits to having sex with a number of young girls in Cambodia in exchange for money.
The next time you see someone dressed as a mascot, reaching out to hug your kids and take a picture in exchange for money, consider the fact that you don’t know anything about the person behind that cartoon head. They could have a past in supporting the Cambodian sex slave industry.
