Although Akiyuki’s latest G.B.C. (Great Ball Contraption) accomplishes nothing more than moving a lot of little balls around, the series of transporters, elevators, rails, hoppers, and other kinds of ball-movers comprise a mesmerizing exhibition of design, automation, and precise calibration that’s greater than the sum of its parts.
It takes me back to my days setting up MBO and H+H mailing systems.
